When I do a marriage of metals piece, I always re-do the design in Adobe Illustrator so that the lines are crisp and I can be as exact as possible.

I always have at least as many copies of the design as there are different metals (in this case there are only two kinds of metal), and then some extras in case I mess something up.
These are then cut out and rubber-cemented to the metal, and then the corrosponding sections are cut out (carefully) on the right metals.
